LOS ANGELES, Calif. (12/17/2020) – For the third year in a row, BYD and SMART Local 105 partnered to bring holiday cheer to the families of northern Los Angeles County served by the Penny Lane Center.
Toys were collected by members of the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers, or SMART, Local 105 while BYD contributed family packs of personal protection equipment, including masks designed specifically for children.
“We are blessed to provide toys and BYD care products for the kids in these unprecedented times,” said Willy Solorzano, an organizer for SMART Local 105. “We want to put a smile in every kid’s face and make their holiday a special one.”
“BYD was proud to partner with SMART Local 105 to bring some holiday joy to the kids at Penny Lane,” said Patrick Duan, BYD Senior Vice President of Operations for the Clean Transportation Business. “Making kids happy and keeping families safe – that’s what it’s all about.”
Penny Lane is a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic residential services, foster family home placements, adoption services, transitional and affordable housing, family preservation, intensive services and mental health services for children, youth and families throughout Los Angeles County. The organization’s mission statement reads: To foster hopes and dreams by empowering children, youth and families to reach their
highest potential.
The nonprofit organization cares for more than 3,500 abused and neglected children, youth and families a month countywide.
