BYD has 220,000 employees across the globe, including nearly 1,000 in North America. Globally, BYD has committed to corporate social responsibility, deeply monitoring our supply chain in terms of human rights, environmental safety, hazardous substance control and intellectual property rights. We only select suppliers who share our commitment to just labor practices, human rights standards and the environment.

honoring first responders
BYD believes in supporting first responders, healthcare providers, and other frontline workers by providing personal protection equipment, including masks and hand sanitizers. BYD has provided well over $1 million in donations to help those who are helping us.
dignity
BYD promotes dignity by providing opportunities for all. BYD is committed to reaching out to hire women, veterans, second-chance workers, and others facing hurdles to manufacturing employment. In addition, BYD encourages disadvantaged businesses and minority women-owned business to become vendors.
Giving Back
BYD has donated several thousand items of personal protection equipment to transit agencies and other civic organizations across California, the United States, and Canada. Those receiving donations include Fresno County Farm Bureau in Fresno, California; the Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California; DMC-Sinai-Grace in Detroit, Michigan; the Toronto Transit Commission, in Toronto; and the L.A. County Emergency Operations Center.
APPRENTICESHIPS
The drive toward a greener, sustainable world is creating a demand for a new set of work skills. Recognizing this need, BYD has partnered with SMART Local 105 and Antelope Valley College (AVC) to create a unique apprenticeship program to enhance the skill sets of our workers. This program gives BYD a skilled workforce raises the bar for quality and efficiency in production while providing the worker with skills that can help them advance their careers. In addition, BYD partnered with the Antelope Valley Transit Authority to create an endowment at AVC to provide for equipment and training for worker training.
Community Service
BYD gives back to where we work and live, supporting several City of Lancaster events, including their annual Halloween and Holiday season events, sponsoring the Antelope Valley Transit Authority’s annual Stuff-a-Bus holiday gift campaign, partnering with SMART Local 105 to provide holiday gifts to homeless and foster youth, and funding educational endowments. BYD also donated a forklift and two electric pallet jacks to a local food bank and is a sponsor of the annual Heartsounds Gala of the Children’s Center of the Antelope Valley.
